You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.

What will you be doing?
You'll deliver the services in line with the contract requirements and to the satisfaction of the Service Manager and their customers. Focusing on quality, productivity and efficiency in delivery outcomes.
You'll promote the development of our safety culture (It Starts With Me) within the Area and support the wider culture development across Devon Highways, working with the H&S Advisor.
Take ownership of the Causeway data and its use within the Area, and work with the Commercial and Finance teams in understanding and managing outputs from the system;
We'll ask you to liaise with the Transport Manager(s) ensuring fleet, plant, fuel and driver record requirements are current and accurately completed.
Along with the Environment team, ensuring waste legislation is followed and compliant.
The role will include planning efficient use of resources to deliver the Area priorities as described in the Annual Plan. e.g. Winter & Emergency Service, LACP, Safety Defects etc.
You'll take ownership of the Area commercial performance and working closely with the Commercial team to provide accurate resource sheet inputs, and support forecasting activity.
Recruitment, onboarding, management, coaching, training, mentoring, development and motivation of Efficient and effective management of supply chain resources in line with the company SHEQ policies. Ensuring VFM is provided to the Service Manager;
You'll ensure KPI performance is maintained at or above the required levels. Working with the Commercial team in managing contractual issues with the Service Managers team, subcontractors and suppliers.
You'll develop a regular timetable of internal communication with staff and operatives for which you are responsible. Responsible for ensuring development of the Operational team and timely completion of all PDR’s.
Along with managing all people related matters e.g., disciplinary, grievance etc. in a timely manner in conjunction with HR representatives following company procedures.

- Experience in highway maintenance at a managerial level
