    Where will you be working?

    At M Group Telecom, we’re enabling and enhancing telecom networks, playing a lead role in the delivery of our tech enabled future.

    We deliver full network cycle services for fixed, private and mobile operators.

    This role will be within our private networks. We find the best technology, manage assets and refresh systems. With 24/7 network operations, we keep things running smoothly, while operating comprehensive network repair and maintenance to keep everything in top shape.

    We are thrilled to announce a new opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Engineering team in the south of England. This role involves working on client-based contracts as well as other assigned projects. While the ideal location is Reading, occasional travel and accommodation away from home may be required.     What will you be doing?

    • You’ll be supporting our client’s communications infrastructure across both HV Distribution networks.
    • You’ll be taking the lead in providing professional expertise on day-to-day management of the client’s strategic network and in the handover of services from our Field engineering teams.
    • You’ll be required to assist in the project delivery of telecoms network installations working closely with the Program Managers & Design Engineers assistanting projects from inception to end of job handover.
    • We’ll need you to support first line installation teams carrying out infrastructure, from simple to complex network builds and have good background knowledge of working within an HV environment.
    • You’ll quality check all documentation related to the clients build requirements, progress, report and close issues to the clients and our own internal SLA’s using the correct processes and systems.
    • You’ll perform risk assessments on site and be able to follow method statements, supporting on site teams.
    • You’ll work to internal & client billing milestones critical to project completions, making sure that reporting of and end of job reports are fed back to the client in a timely manner meeting the clients expectations and making sure that any SLA agreements are being met.
    • You’ll be able to manage risk and ensuring all quality and health & safety requirements are met, work closely with the internal H&S teams, making sure we meet all our safety standards.  

    What you’ll bring

    • You’ll bring strong set of IT skills which would include Microsoft products, basic DOS commands, VT software
    • You’ll have analytical skills to assist in fault resolution
    • You’ll have a understanding of and in a support function, Installation in electrical substation environment including “hot site” mitigation and mitigation of Rise of Earth potential risk.
    • You’ll have knowledge of both AC/DC systems as a support function.
    • You’ll have a understanding of Fibre – splicing, termination and testing of a range of fibre types including Optical Ground Wire cannisters, ground deployed fibre, 3rd- party fibre, fibre characteristics and connectorisation, conversant in use of fibre test equipment – i.e. EXFO
    • Knowledge of SDH/PDH technology including DNWP Connection Master SDH\PDH multiplexers,
    • Have an understanding to support configuration and testing of sub-rate services including V & X data, Voice Frequency and Optical Tele protection including conversant in use of test equipment.
    • Microwave radio – E.g. point to point SIAE Electronica ALC+, conversant with good installation practice.
    • You’ll have a understanding of the deployment and testing of copper xDSL products including xDSL services via BT WBMC and SHDSL over copper “pilot” cables
    • Deployment and testing of 3rd party “leased line” products including Openreach Ethernet Access Direct and Optical Spectrum Access
    • Understanding of Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking including Cisco Aggregation Services Router\Switches and Cisco Industrial Ethernet and Connected Grid products.
    • Access products including Virtual Access IoT & Westermo products
    • Satellite services – E.g. BGAN and T-SAT services
    • Private mobile radio – E.g. Simoco XFin trunked radio systems
    • Synchronisation networks including synchronisation elements (frequency, NTP and PTP) configuration and maintenance
    • MPLS network – Cisco
    • Mobile data – Private APN services with mobile carriers
