Where will you be working?
As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
This role is in our Plant & Fleet department, Plant & Fleet supports teams across our business with their vehicle, plant and specialist equipment needs, offering hire solutions that are commercially effective, reliable, safe and compliant.

What will you be doing?
You’ll oversee workshop performance by monitoring and driving improvements through key business metrics.
You’ll boost workshop productivity and performance by fostering a supportive and efficient environment.
You’ll lead the 1st Line team with guidance and encouragement to ensure high standards of conduct.
We’d expect you to supervise daily workshop activities, managing progress and supporting team development.
You’ll coordinate and schedule third-party work bookings, building strong relationships with suppliers and dealers.
You’ll uphold robust Health & Safety standards, ensuring a secure and compliant workshop environment.
Also, manage and raise Purchase Orders, delivering cost-effective, high-quality solutions for M Group.
You’ll focus on Vehicle Off Road (VOR) control by regularly reviewing processes across departments to maximise asset availability.
What you’ll bring
- Previous experience of working as a Senior Engineer or Workshop Controller role gained through working as a Service Engineer/Fitter on LCVs, HGVs or Plant & Equipment or in a similar position.
- Engineering qualification (likely to be gained in a Construction Plant environment, City & Guilds or NVQ preferred) achieved through a recognised formal training programme.
- Ability to analyse data and produce detailed counter measures to close performance gaps and provide high asset compliance.
- Keen to learn with an interest in development and progression
