Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

About the role
As our Principle Designer you're appointed by the client to take responsibility and accountability of signing off pre construction information. You'll influence how risks to health and safety are managed throughout a project and support sound design of solutions to remove risk.
You'll be providing & modifying Design for Construction teams, Contractors & the Client. You need to be able to understand issues in any part of the water sector asset base. Collaborate to communicate clearly a workable outcome for others to construct.
You'll be required to research and discover problems, develop insight and then provide a focused definition. You will develop, explore and create potential solutions, before testing, listening and receiving feedback to find a solution.
You'll need to take account of any pre-construction information, eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks to anyone affected by the project. Take steps to reduce or control any risks that cannot be eliminated. You must be able to demonstrate you have the skills, knowledge, experience and the organisational capability, to carry out the work.
The role needs you to be free thinking, challenging, engaged and self motivated to continuously develop your level of technical expertise. Bringing innovation into the business and questioning established thought is a key part of the role.
You 'll apply sound engineering judgement at all times. You'll understand and apply design guidance documents, Standards and specification, and develop new ways of working.
Site visits are a requirement, as is travel throughout the region.
