    Where will you be working?
     
    We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.     This role will be within our MEICA and capital maintenance, Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) experts offer a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services. 

    We are seeking a recognised, experienced, and visible Business Unit Director to lead one of our strategic business units within the group. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for driving performance, shaping strategy and delivering sustainable growth.

    What will you be doing?

    This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex MEICA projects across highly regulated industrial sectors. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of over 1,100 operatives, ensuring operational excellence, strategic growth, and sustained profitability.

    Requirements:

    • Full P&L ownership of the business unit, accountable for delivering against financial and non-financial KPIs.
    • Lead the development and execution of the business unit strategy and annual business plan, including revenue, gross profit, EBITDA and cashflow targets.
    • Set and communicate a clear vision and strategic direction aligned with group ambitions, at a 1–3 year work-winning horizon.
    • Champion health, safety, and wellbeing, ensuring statutory compliance and promoting safe working practices.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, strategic partners and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted leader and communicator
     
    • Ensure robust governance and risk management, enforcing delegated authority and mitigating business risks.
    • Drive innovation and identify new opportunities to enhance business performance and market position.
     
    Candidate Profile:
     
    • Proven track record in senior leadership roles, ideally as a Business Unit Director or General Manager.
    • Demonstrated success in managing large and complex contracts or businesses, consistently achieving financial targets.
    • Strong commercial acumen and sector awareness, with the ability to anticipate market trends and client needs.
    • Excellent people leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with experience leading through change.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
    • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, capable of engaging at all levels.
    • Purpose and values-driven, with a collaborative and high-energy leadership style.
    • Desirable: Experience in integrating business units or departments and forming strategic partnerships.
     
    Skills & Experience:
     
    • Deep understanding of business management, governance and regulatory requirements.
    • Ability to implement and communicate policies aligned with group standards.
    • Experience in presenting to senior leadership teams and boards.
    • Resilient and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving results and seeing the bigger picture.
