    Where will you be working?

    At M Group Energy we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.  

    We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. 

    This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

    Where will you be working?

    As a Groundworker you will play an important part in our Site Delivery Team, who are responsible for the construction and refurbishment of High Voltage Substations from 11kV to 132kV in the East Anglia region.

    We are proud to be a key partner in the UKPN Alliance, delivering substation build and refurbishment works across the East of England including design, project management, cable installation, building construction, jointing, switchgear, bunding, commissioning, decommissioning and demolition. 

    • A large range of practical tasks including excavation of trenches, placing and compacting bedding material, laying and jointing drainage pipes, ducts and cables.
    • Backfilling and compacting trenches, mix and lay concrete, operate machinery, use equipment such as drills and pumps.
    • The work may also include fencing work, earthworks, construction of foundations and assisting skilled workers for example Steelfixers and Carpenters.
    • Working under the instruction and supervision of Foremen and Site Managers.
    • The work may involve the driving of dumpers and other construction site vehicles as well as acting as a Banksman.
    • Working close to live high voltage equipment above and below ground
    • Keeping the site tidy and looking after tools and equipment.
    • Providing assistance to the site team which may include a number of varied tasks.
    • At all times to be working in a safe manner with consideration towards fellow workers and members of the public who may come into contact with our work.
     
     

    What you’ll bring

    • Experience and a sound understanding of utility/groundworks.
    •  Have a good understanding of Health & Safety.
    • Ability to understand instructions and carry them out reliably and efficiently.
    • Confident working on your own and as a proactive team player who enjoys working under pressure.
    • EUSR, CSCS or CPCS qualifications required.
    • NRSWA Qualification preferable.
    • A full driving licence and willingness to travel.

    Additional Information

    • You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity demonstrated through the use of hand tools.
    • You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers and be required to walk and stand on uneven ground. 
    • You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction.
    • The work is often physically demanding so good physical fitness, strength and stamina is required.
