  • Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

    Where will you be working?

We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

Want to be part of it?

You’ll join our in-house Design & Build team, supporting the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure across Scotland.

Our geotechnical engineers play a vital role in shaping safe, buildable solutions by providing confidence in ground conditions. Working closely with civil, construction and temporary works teams, you’ll help ensure ground risks are properly understood, interpreted and reflected in design and construction decisions.

This is a delivery-led role, where geotechnical input directly influences how projects are planned and built - with responsibility aligned to experience.

    Role Summary

This is a hands-on geotechnical engineering role within M Group Water’s in-house Design & Build function. You’ll be involved in projects from early optioneering through to construction, supporting and contributing geotechnical insight that informs design, temporary works and construction methods. Rather than producing reports in isolation, you’ll work alongside delivery teams to interpret ground conditions, reduce risk and improve certainty on site.

As your experience grows, so will your technical ownership and influence over decisions that shape safe and efficient delivery.

Roles are available from Assistant through to Principal level, with responsibilities aligned to experience.

    What will you be doing?

    • Supporting and contributing geotechnical input from early optioneering through to construction support
    • Assisting with the interpretation of site investigation data to inform design, buildability and temporary works
    • Contributing to the identification and management of ground-related risks
    • Working closely with civil engineers, construction and temporary works teams
    • Supporting technical assurance, quality reviews and compliance activities
    • Sharing knowledge within the team and, where appropriate, supporting the development of junior engineers

    What you’ll bring

    • Geotechnical engineering experience within infrastructure or construction environments, appropriate to role level
    • Ability to interpret ground conditions and apply findings practically, with support as required
    • Confidence to contribute to design and construction discussions, growing influence with experience
    • Experience working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
    • A proactive, safety-focused approach and commitment to quality
