Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

    Where will you be working?

We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.  We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

This role will be within our Growth team. Our team supports the Regional MDs to secure large-scale capital delivery, repair & maintenance and metering programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

As Account Director, you will lead the growth and development of strategic client relationships across the Water Division, driving account growth, increasing client share and identifying opportunities to introduce the wider capabilities of M Group. Working closely with Regional Managing Directors, the Strategic Director and Growth Team, you'll ensure priority accounts are strategically managed, growth opportunities are identified and progressed, and client relationships are strengthened at all levels.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    • Leading strategic account planning for priority water-sector clients and frameworks.
    • Identifying, developing and progressing growth opportunities across existing accounts, including opportunities beyond core Water Division services.

    • Leading account-based capture planning and supporting qualification, positioning and win strategies for major opportunities.
    • Monitoring market trends, AMP investment programmes, procurement pipelines and competitor activity to identify future growth opportunities.
    • Contributing to the Water Division Customer Strategy through client insight, market intelligence and operational performance trends.
    • Supporting bid strategy, proposal development and customer engagement activities to maximise win rates and long-term client value.
    • Working collaboratively with operational, commercial and bid teams to ensure client development activity is aligned with delivery capability and business objectives.

    What you’ll bring:

    • Strong experience in client development, key account management, strategic accounts or business development within water, utilities, infrastructure or regulated services.
    • Good understanding of the UK water sector, including AMP cycles, framework models, procurement routes, water company priorities and regulated delivery environments.
    • Experience developing account plans, relationship maps, customer plans and opportunity pipelines.
    • Strong CRM and pipeline management discipline.
    • Ability to work effectively with Regional Managing Directors, operational teams, bid teams and commercial stakeholders.
    • Ability to translate client insight, operational performance, procurement intelligence and wider M Group capability into practical growth actions.
    • Commercial awareness, including understanding of revenue, margin, delivery risk, capacity and strategic fit.
    • Experience contributing to bid strategy, bid writing, storyboarding, bid reviews or proposal material production.
    • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
    • Credibility with senior client, operational and internal stakeholders.
