  • Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

    Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

    What will you be doing?

As a Bid Writer, you'll play a central role in helping us secure the projects that support the UK's energy transition and critical infrastructure growth.

Working as part of a collaborative bid team, you'll lead the development of high-quality, customer-focused written submissions that differentiate M Group from our competitors and bring our solutions to life. You'll get to work closely with subject matter experts, operational leaders, engineers and commercial teams to capture technical detail, develop clear win themes and create engaging content that resonates with clients.

A key part of the role will be facilitating storyboarding sessions, shaping messaging and ensuring every submission tells a compelling, consistent story. You'll take ownership of written responses, challenging thinking where needed and helping stakeholders communicate their expertise in a way that is clear, concise and impactful.

You'll also contribute to continuous improvement, helping to strengthen our bid library, templates, lessons learned processes and overall approach to work winning.

This role is hybrid to either our Newcastle & Nottingham office, but can also consider someone remotely (within the UK).

    • Own the development of written bid responses across strategic and operational opportunities within the Network Infrastructure business.
    • Interpret tender requirements and evaluation criteria, developing clear response structures and content plans.
    • Facilitate bid planning, storyboarding and content development workshops to establish win themes and key messaging.
    • Work collaboratively with operational, technical, commercial and business development teams to develop compelling, customer-focused responses.
    • Translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive and easy-to-evaluate content.
    • Challenge and improve draft content to ensure maximum quality, consistency and impact.
    • Help shape bid strategies by identifying differentiators, customer benefits and value propositions.
    • Coordinate the development of supporting graphics, diagrams and visual content where appropriate.
    • Ensure all submissions are compliant, accurate, professionally presented and aligned to client requirements.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of bid processes, templates, content libraries and best practice resources.
    • Capture lessons learned and support knowledge sharing across the wider bid team.
    • Support client presentations, interviews and other work-winning activities where required.

    What you'll bring:
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience delivering major tenders, frameworks or strategic proposals within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and create compelling narratives.
    • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and influence colleagues at all levels.
    • Experience leading storyboarding sessions, content workshops and review processes.
    • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
    • Advanced Microsoft Word and strong Microsoft Office skills.
    • Ability to travel for workshops, interviews and stakeholder engagement sessions when required.
    • A proactive mindset, resilience under pressure and a continuous improvement mentality.
    Desirable
    • Experience within infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering or energy sectors.
    • Knowledge of APMP methodology and best practice bid management principles.
    • APMP Foundation or Practitioner certification, or willingness to work towards qualification.
    • Experience developing graphics, layouts or visual communication materials using InDesign or similar software.
    • Experience using AI tools as a "critical friend" to improve content quality, efficiency and consistency.

    What’s in it for you?
    • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    • Private health care and health care cash plan for you
    • Matched or contributory pension scheme
    • Life Assurance
    • Enhanced maternity, paternity leave and adoption leave
