    What will you be doing? 

    We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer who is ready to take the next step into a junior site management role. Joining M Group’s Defence & Adjacent Markets Division as a Project Engineer / Sub Agent, you will help lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of site activities on technically demanding projects.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong site engineering experience who wants to broaden their responsibility, develop their leadership capability and progress towards a Site Agent or Site Manager position.

    Key Responsibilities 
    • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of day-to-day site activities.
    • Assist the Site Agent / Site Manager/ Project Manager in managing programme, resources, subcontractors and interfaces.
    • Review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), ensuring that work is properly planned, briefed and delivered safely.
    • Maintain effective engineering control, including setting out, surveys, inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality records and as-built information.
    • Interpret drawings, specifications and contract requirements, and communicate them clearly to site teams and subcontractors.
    • Monitor progress against the programme, identify constraints and support the implementation of corrective actions.
    • Coordinate inspections, permits, temporary works requirements and technical queries.
    • Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental performance and quality across the site.
    • Support measurement, record keeping, change control and other basic commercial activities.
    • Build effective working relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors and the wider project team.

    What you’ll bring

    • Proven experience as a Site Engineer within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure delivery.
    • Ready to progress into a Project Engineer, Sub Agent or junior site management position.
    • Good practical knowledge of site operations, safe systems of work and construction sequencing.
    • Experience reviewing and implementing RAMS and ITPs.
    • Ability to read and understand drawings, technical specifications and construction information.
    • Sound understanding of quality assurance, engineering records and document control.
    • Basic knowledge of construction commercial practices, including quantities, records, variations and cost awareness.
    • Confident communicator with the ability to coordinate teams and challenge unsafe or poor-quality work.
    • Organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of site issues.
    • Relevant civil engineering, construction or technical qualification, or equivalent practical experience.

    Desirable Experience

    • Experience working on defence, secure, regulated or other safety-critical projects, including National Grid
    • Previous responsibility for supervising site teams or subcontractors.
    • Awareness of temporary works, permits and assurance processes.
    • Relevant health and safety training or site-management certification. 

    The role would suit someone based in Bedfordshire or the East Midlands region. Travel to project locations will be required, and overnight stays away from home may be necessary to meet project requirements.
