Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

What will you be doing?
As Area Manager, you'll lead our South London operating area, ensuring contract commitments, business objectives, and customer expectations are consistently achieved. Working closely with planning teams and Highway Authorities, you'll develop and deliver multi-year programmes that meet contractual targets and support long-term operational success. You'll be responsible and accountable for the delivery of mains replacement programme.
You'll build strong relationships with subcontract partners to ensure projects are resourced with competent, qualified teams, while providing leadership and support to Site Managers to drive a culture of safety, quality, and customer-focused delivery. Working collaboratively with commercial teams, you'll seek opportunities to improve performance, maximise value, and outperform target cost allowances across your portfolio of schemes.
A key part of the role will be developing and mentoring your team, building resilience and capability within the business while creating a strong succession pipeline for the future. You'll also champion continuous improvement, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards for our clients and customers.
What you’ll bring
- Do you have proven experience in leading multi-site operations while managing multiple 3rd party stakeholders and a demanding client?
- Have you got Water mains replacement experience? This is essential for the role.
- Can you demonstrate commitment to safety?
- Do you hold a valid driving licence?
- Are you able to integrate support functions with your operational team to capture opportunities for continuous improvement?
- Do you have success in raising standards, improving production and enhancing outcomes by nurturing talent and managing poor performance?
- Have you got experience of operating in a regulated environment with rigorous quality standards and procedures?
- Do you hold a CDM qualification such as SMSTS or NEBOSH?
