    Where will you be working?

    As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.

    This role is in our Plant & Fleet department, our Plant & Fleet supports teams across our business with their vehicle, plant and specialist equipment needs, offering hire solutions that are commercially effective, reliable, safe and compliant.

    What will you be doing?

    This role is all about ensuring excellence in mobile engineering, from maintaining safety and quality standards to supporting teams and driving compliance. You'll play a key part in conducting audits on Mobile Engineers and their equipment, making sure everything aligns with the highest organisational standards.

    Beyond checks and inspections, you’ll also be mentoring and developing individuals who need extra support, helping them reach their full potential through a structured review process. Supporting the management team in setting up static working areas, overseeing major repairs, and supervising the Mobile Engineering workforce are all essential aspects of the role. You’ll work closely with the Compliance Service Centre, ensuring 100% compliance through effective planning with both mobile engineering and depot teams.

    Strong leadership is at the heart of this position—you’ll engage actively with your team, lead by example, and foster a positive working environment. Keeping vehicles, plant, and equipment in top condition, both mechanically and visually, is key. Whether responding to breakdowns, carrying out service work, completing PDI inspections, or installing telematics, you’ll be a vital part of keeping operations running smoothly.

    What you’ll bring

    • Previous experience of working as a Senior Engineer or Workshop Supervisor role or in a similar position
    • Engineering qualification (likely to be gained in a Construction Plant environment, City & Guilds or NVQ preferred) achieved through a recognised formal training programme
    • Previous experience gained through working as a Service Engineer/Fitter on LCVs, HGVs or Plant & Equipment
    • Preferably competent in the use of diagnostic equipment
    • Capability to take ownership and accountability
    • Committed to delivering high standards of customer service
    • Ability to prioritise own and team’s workload and work under pressure to strict deadlines
    • A high and detailed level of product knowledge
    • Full driving licence
