Where will you be working?
As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
This role is in our Finance department. Our finance team is responsible for the financial management of our Group. This includes financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

What will you be doing?
As the Head of Group Technical Accounting, you will help drive the decision making around the technical accounting processes in an organisation that is experiencing incredible growth.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to lead on all things Technical Accounting and gain exposure across the whole Group.
Some of the responsibilities of the successful Head of Technical Accounting
- Oversight of technical accounting responsible for driving consistency, process improvement, best practice, automation, and continuous improvement across the Group
- Partner Divisional and Group Executive team to ensure timely and accurate financial data and achievement of service excellence
- Maintain high relationships with key stakeholders through frequent contact and being responsive to their business needs
- Take the lead on developing Technical Accounting throughout the group, with a particular focus on IFRS 15 & 16 standards
- Lead on the company IFRS conversion from UK GAAP
- Proven ability to challenge the status quo and deliver successful change
- Ability to identify problems, isolate problems from symptoms, solve them, act decisively and show good judgment
- Engage, influence and align stakeholders in support of Operations goals
What you’ll bring
- Strong academic background, ideally within Finance & Accounting
- Advanced Technical Accounting experience
- Had exposure in a large accounting firm in Technical Accounting advisory capacity, although not essential
- Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering effective processes throughout an organisation, essentially being the ‘go to’ person for all things Technical
- Strong relationship building experience coupled with a clear and concise communication style to ensure needs are understood.
