You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.
We are looking for Highways Operatives to join our team in Melksham.

What will you be doing?
You'll work together in a team, to promote health and safety culture and be responsible for undertaking works in a safe and compliant manner.
You'll be responsible for undertaking programmed maintenance works as directed by the Agent. Assisting in the improvement and maintenance of the network asset. Undertaking emergency call out as directed.
The role will involve being part of operations crew undertaking various labouring duties including excavation works, laying and levelling of kerbs, slabs and bitumen macadam, drainage and gully installations.
We'll require you to operate small plant and equipment used in highway maintenance with guidance and the appropriate certificates. You'll also install traffic management under instruction in accordance with method statements.
You'll ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained and stored in the appropriate manner. Ensuring that all paperwork is completed fully and in accordance to the deadlines.
Maintaining a professional appearance appropriate to the work environment, where you will respond to customers both internal and external in a courteous and helpful manner.
You may be asked to participate in an out of hours emergency call out system covering the Devon Highways Services network. Participating in Winter Services duties as required.
What you’ll bring
- UK driving licence
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- CSCS
- Previous experience of work on the highway
- Experience/Certificated for operating small plant
- Traffic Management qualification
- NRSWA
- Clean driving licence
- LGV/HGV Driving licence
- Willing to work in all weathers and unsociable hours as required and be available for out of hours emergency call outs
