As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
The Procurement function is undergoing an exciting transformation journey, deploying best in class processes, ensuring an innovative, reliable and cost-efficient supply chain that can grow with M Group to support delivery of our strategy.

What will you be doing?
- You’ll lead development and delivery of category strategy.
- Driving value through strategic sourcing and procurement activities.
- We’ll need you to align category plans with stakeholder requirements.
- You’ll be using data and market insights to assess risks and opportunities.
- Select vendors based on quality, performance and cost-effectiveness.
- You’ll be negotiating contracts to secure best terms and pricing.
- Achieving financial targets through agreed initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- You’ll lead cross-functional teams to deliver category value.
- Provide category insights to support business decisions.
- Monitoring sector trends and regulatory changes.
- Embed ESG and group priorities into procurement strategy.
What you’ll bring:
We are seeking an experienced procurement professional with 5–7 years’ proven expertise in the field, demonstrating a strong track record in developing and implementing successful category strategies and sourcing practices. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills, acting as a trusted expert across the organisation up to executive level. With strong leadership capabilities and prior experience in leading cross-functional or virtual teams, you will excel in negotiation and consensus-building, delivering credible and actionable solutions. Highly analytical with outstanding problem-solving abilities, you will also bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, thriving both independently and as part of a collaborative team. A recognised procurement qualification, such as MCIPS, is preferred.
Additional Information
This role can be conducted remotely, with travel to Stevenage required 2-4 times a month with additional travel to meet stakeholders and suppliers as required
