What will you be doing?
The Vendor and Commercial Management Director will be accountable for the strategic governance, performance, and commercial optimisation of all IT and technology supplier relationships across M Group. Operating in a complex environment with over 200 offices, 30,000 IT users, and annual revenues of £3.7 billion, the role ensures that vendor partnerships deliver maximum value, innovation, and service excellence to support rapid business growth and frequent acquisitions.
This role is pivotal in driving a consistent, transparent, and performance-driven vendor ecosystem, reducing commercial risk, and ensuring supplier contracts align with strategic objectives. The postholder will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership — including the CIO, CTO, CISO, IT Managed Service Director, and IT Finance lead.
What you’ll bring:
Key Attributes and Skills
- Proven track record in senior vendor management and commercial leadership roles within large-scale, complex organisations.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with experience managing multi-million-pound IT contracts.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, value, and risk.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at board level.
- Deep understanding of vendor governance frameworks, supplier risk management, and contractual law principles.
- Experience driving vendor integration during mergers and acquisitions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Business, Commercial Management, IT, or related discipline.
- Extensive experience managing high-value vendor portfolios in a corporate environment.
- Demonstrable success delivering cost savings, service improvements, and innovation through strategic vendor management.
- Knowledge of IT service management frameworks (ITIL) and commercial best practice (e.g., CIPS, ISO 44001).
- Experience in high-growth, acquisition-heavy environments is highly desirable.
