  • Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

    Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

This role will be within our Transmission and Renewables team in Wales and South West England.

We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

Want to come and be a part of it?

We’re working on big projects with National Grid across England & Wales — building and refurbishing substations that keep the lights on. Think design, project management, cables, construction, switchgear, commissioning, decommissioning…the whole package. For this we need Groundworkers to join the team!

    What will you be doing?

    • Civil works on high‑voltage substations  - earthworks, drainage, ducting, trough systems
    • Pouring reinforced concrete foundations for transformers, reactors, and other heavy kit
    • Laying paths, hard standings, kerbs, fencing, and road formations
    • Driving plant (rollers, dumpers, excavators) and using safe dig techniques (Cat & Genny)
    • Installing temporary works for drainage (tanks, separators, pumping stations, chambers)
    • Handling permits, safety docs, and daily briefs — once you’re trained up
    • Taking on National Grid safety responsibilities when you’re competent

Don’t worry  - we’ll train you where needed.

    What you’ll bring

    • Experience with National Grid or substations? Great. If not, civil engineering background is essential
    • You’re 18+ (health & safety rules)
    • Full UK manual driving licence -  transport sorted by us
    • Happy working outdoors, whatever the weather throws at you
    • Team player who knows the value of mucking in together
    • Handy with tools and good manual dexterity
    • Comfortable in confined spaces and physically fit for demanding work
    • Up for travelling nationwide and staying away when needed

While you’re away, we cover hotels and all meals -  no out‑of‑pocket costs.

    What’s in it for you

    • Be part of major national infrastructure projects - your work keeps the country running
    • All training provided, with a clear career development pathway
    • Quarterly reviews to help you progress -  whether you want to move into engineering or site management
    • Supportive team culture where hard work is recognised

This is a chance to build a career, not just a job. If you’re ready to get stuck in, learn new skills, and grow with us, we’d love to hear from you.

    We offer a range of benefits designed to support your life in and out of work, some of which include;

    • Matched or contributory pension scheme
    • Online GP service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
    • Employee assistance programme
    • My Rewards portal, access to 1000’s of retail discounts
    • Life assurance
    • Cycle to work, salary finance and give as you earn schemes
    • Enhanced maternity, paternity leave and adoption leave
    • Reward and recognition scheme

    In addition, this role offers;

    • Company Van with fuel card for business miles
    • 21 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    • Recommend a friend – get rewarded for introducing people to us!
