Where will you be working?
At M Group Water we help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. This role will join BGEN - one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food and beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.
What will you be doing?
You will manage the weekly payroll for HPC project staff, ensuring timesheets, shifts, overtime, and allowances are accurate and processed smoothly.
You will work with supervisors to resolve any discrepancies and keep payroll records compliant and up to date.
You’ll be a welcoming point of contact for payroll queries, sharing clear updates on pay schedules and changes.
You will collaborate with HR on starters, leavers, and employee data, and support Finance with month‑end tasks.
Using systems like ORACLE, SAP, COINS, or project platforms, you’ll help improve processes, assist with audits, and support new system integrations.
What you'll bring:
Essential
- Payroll administration experience, ideally in construction or engineering
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident using payroll software and Excel
- Professional handling of confidential information
- Clear communication and problem‑solving skills
Desirable
- Experience on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Understanding of HPC rules, project agreements, or site labour arrangements
- Familiarity with CIS, union agreements, or large workforce payrolls
Qualifications
- CIPP or similar (helpful but not essential)
- GCSEs in Maths and English
- Training in payroll systems is an advantage
