Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.
We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Substation & Renewables Connections team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing?
As a Performance and Reporting Lead Data Analyst you’ll work across all M Group contracts with our key clients in the transmission sector. You’ll be instrumental in collating accurate data, validating project progress, compiling and supporting delivery of reports and dashboards for use in governance which provide clear insights into portfolio actions, progress, costs and risks. Hybrid approach with office based in Newport.
Are you passionate about providing insightful analysis, supporting performance monitoring and identifying opportunities for improvement? You’ll work within our Project Controls team and alongside our project delivery teams to ensure a consistent approach.
- Analysing and interpreting project and portfolio data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement, contributing to enhanced reporting processes and decision-making
- Provide support to the Head of Project Controls, Project Managers, and project teams, ensuring compliance with established governance processes, continuous improvement of tools, templates and reporting standards
- Maintain clear transparency on performance through reporting that supports decision-making
- Contributing to the development of our Project Controls maturity by supporting the rollout of best practices, guidance, and training support
- Liaise with our key clients to align with their specific reporting requirements, supporting with training and embedding these within the M Group team where applicable
- Assist in the gathering of KPI information from external partners and internal project teams, ensuring integrity of data and responsible for the analysis and operational reporting internally in M Group and externally to clients
- Support our work winning activities with insight into our existing projects, support with preparation of bids and proposals to secure new projects
What you’ll bring
- Experience in Power BI or similar BI tools
- Excel (advanced: PowerQuery, pivot tables, formulas)
- Experience with KPI analysis
- Understanding of project performance metrics (cost, schedule, risk, progress)
- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, and with a keen interest in improving stakeholder engagement
- Strong collaboration skills and an ability to build effective working relationships to ensure alignment across teams
- Adherence to governance processes, standard tools, templates and reporting standards and familiarity with coordinating reporting packs for governance meetings, documenting actions, outcomes and producing ad-hoc reports
- Full UK driving licence
