  • Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

    Where will you be working?

M Group’s Technology and Communications Division is entering an exciting phase of accelerated growth following its acquisition of Telent, a leading provider of mission-critical telecoms and network infrastructure services. With a combined turnover of ~£1 billion and a workforce of over ~4,000 employees nationwide, the division is now one of the most capable and diversified telecoms infrastructure and technology services providers in the UK and Ireland. Operating at the heart of the UK’s digital infrastructure, the division offers comprehensive end-to-end services across fixed, mobile, and private networks through a group of highly specialised businesses. The Telent acquisition has significantly enhanced the division's capabilities, particularly in cybersecurity, public sector communications, and critical national infrastructure, and is poised to accelerate the group’s expansion into high-growth markets such as transport, defence, and essential public services.

Want to come and be a part of it?

    What will you be doing?

Following the appointment of the Managing Director – Technology role, we are now seeking someone to lead the Communications part of our business as the Managing Director – Communications, playing a pivotal role in leading this next phase of growth. This is a senior leadership role with substantial strategic and operational responsibility. Reporting directly to the MD of the Technology and Communications Division, the role will oversee nationwide operations, drive performance across a complex, high-growth business, and ensure a safety-first culture. The role will be responsible for managing 3 Managing Directors with a team of ~1500 employees and will lead operational transformation within a private equity-backed environment. You'll mentor and motivate your team, driving collaboration, quality, and environmental excellence — we'll invest in your leadership growth every step of the way.

    What you’ll bring

The ideal candidate will be a commercially focused, hands-on leader with a strong understanding of operational transformation and value creation. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic operational leader to shape the future of one of the UK’s fastest-growing telecom infrastructure platforms. You will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic plan to drive long term growth and market leadership, providing high quality commercial insight to the Board and PE investors. You will co-own key customer relationships alongside the MDs, ensuring consistent service excellence across major strategic accounts and delivering high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive engagement, problem resolution, and service innovation. Leading on the development and management of operational budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics, you will deliver against ambitious targets, ensuring strong financial discipline, risk management, and corporate governance in line with company and regulatory standards.

We are looking for someone who has the following skills and experience.

    • Proven track record of leading large-scale operational and commercial functions within telecoms infrastructure, utilities, engineering, or other complex service delivery environments, with the ability to articulate strategic vision and translate this into structured execution plans.
    • Provide executive leadership in safety performance monitoring, reporting, and incident management.
    • Comfortable operating at board level, with the credibility to influence executive leadership, shareholders, and private equity.
    • Strong track record in business growth with demonstrated success in developing and winning major contracts or frameworks. Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to manage complex, high-value customer relationships across both public and private sectors.
    • Experienced in managing geographically dispersed, multi-site operations with large workforces—ideally more than several thousand employees.
    • Full P&L responsibility for substantial business units, ideally with revenues of £500 million or more, demonstrating strong financial and commercial control.
    • A strong background in driving business transformation, delivering operational efficiencies, and unlocking profitability through performance improvement.
    • Hands-on experience integrating acquired businesses, including the alignment of systems, structures, and cultures during post-acquisition phases.

    What’s in it for you?
