    What you'll be doing: 

    As the Client’s main point of contact you will need to be customer focused, non confrontational and establish good working relationships.

    Predominantly office based, you will also have a responsibility for attendance at progress meetings and providing feedback from these meetings etc. to all other staff and liaison and coordination with all designers, project engineers and members of the project team.

     You will have overall responsibility for the design process, ensuring that all documentation is produced in line with the project program and meets the required quality standards. This includes the early production of Design Risk Assessments, allocating the necessary resources to complete all design work within both program and commercial constraints, and chairing design review meetings in accordance with the Project Quality Plan.

    You will liaise closely with the Client and the Design Team to ensure that user requirements and the project’s commercial parameters are fully reflected in the detailed design.

    Throughout the process, you will maintain oversight of the detailed design to ensure that all deliverables are issued on time and meet the standards expected by BES and our clients.

    You will have an excellent knowledge of current legislation, requirements and best practice, with responsibilities that include promoting and maintaining a positive health and safety culture across the project team and fully utilising the BES/Boulting Group Safety Management System.

    You will ensure that the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan is produced with accurate, site‑specific information, and that method statements and risk assessments are properly checked by the site manager in accordance with the Health and Safety Management System.

    You will also ensure that hazard identification and risk assessments are carried out early in the design process and updated as the project develops.

    Your role includes reviewing risk assessments, method statements and COSHH assessments with the site manager, conducting regular site safety audits, and liaising closely with the BES safety advisor to maintain high standards throughout the project.

    You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and standard of work across the full project lifecycle, from design through installation, commissioning, validation and handover.

    This includes producing the Project Quality Plan and ensuring full compliance with BES Quality Systems. You will liaise with the Client to fully understand project requirements and coordinate with all disciplines to ensure accurate, integrated delivery.

    Your role involves inspecting installations, managing and completing snag lists, and maintaining clear communication with the site manager and site teams so all drawings and documents are understood.

    You will set and agree workmanship standards, verify and review inspection records, and work proactively to achieve zero formal customer complaints.

    You will also assess buildability, provide solutions where needed, and agree the format of all handover documentation, including commissioning test sheets and validation protocols. Project review meetings will be carried out in line with the Quality Plan.

    You will be responsible for procuring major plant and subcontract packages, as well as ensuring adequate internal resources are in place to deliver all aspects of the project.

    This includes agreeing required project resources with the Managing Director and establishing working arrangements with key service providers.

    You will produce procurement schedules, manage the procurement of equipment, plant hire and materials, and organise subcontractor procurement to meet project timescales.

    You will prepare the project program with input from all relevant parties to ensure coordinated and timely delivery across all stages of the project.

    The preparation of the construction program will be carried out by the Project Manager with support from the Project Planner, and you will be expected to liaise regularly with the project team to discuss planning and progress, agreeing program requirements with the relevant team members.

    You will ensure the project is completed within the agreed timescales, prepare both short‑ and long‑term programs, and oversee the preparation of progress reports.

    In addition, you will report project progress to the Client and to the Managing Director during Project Reviews, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

    What you'll bring: 

    • Minimum HNC qualified in Building Services or Building Studies.
    • Trained to a minimum standard of IoSH Managing Safely.
    • Experienced in managing turnkey projects including construction, HVAC, mechanical and electrical works.
    • Experienced in the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets is preferred particularly in the construction of laboratories and cleanrooms.
    • Working knowledge of company safety and quality procedures.
    • IT literate and conversant with Microsoft Office, Outlook and Project.
    • Fully conversant with CDM regulations and able to operate at senior level in fulfilling the role of principal contractor.
    • Customer focused and able to communicate at the highest level within client organisations.
