  • Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career; with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

    Where will you be working?

At M Group Telecom, we’re enabling and enhancing telecom networks, playing a lead role in the delivery of our tech enabled future.

We deliver full network cycle services for fixed, private and mobile operators.

Private networks- We find the best technology, manage assets and refresh systems. With 24/7 network operations, we keep things running smoothly, while operating comprehensive network repair and maintenance to keep everything in top shape.

Want to come and be a part of it?

We’re looking for a Operations Manager to lead and shape our Design Operations function. In this role, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end operational performance, ensuring design delivery is structured, predictable, and aligned to programme and customer demand.

Sitting at the heart of the organisation, you’ll act as the operational backbone of Design—connecting strategy with execution, bringing clarity to complexity, and helping us build a system-led function that delivers consistent, high-quality outcomes at scale.

We welcome candidates from across the UK, and while this role offers flexibility, you’ll be expected to travel to key sites in the Midlands and Cambridgeshire to stay close to delivery and build strong relationships on the ground.

    What will you be doing?

You’ll take full ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of our Design function, ensuring delivery is predictable, controlled, and aligned to programme requirements. Working through Design Managers, you’ll translate demand into clear, prioritised workloads while driving a culture of planned, structured execution and eliminating reactive ways of working. You’ll lead capacity, demand, and throughput management across the function, balancing workloads, optimising resource utilisation, and ensuring there are no bottlenecks or single points of failure.

You’ll develop and empower our Design Managers to become high-performing operational leaders, embedding consistent standards, strong delivery control, and accountability for quality and outputs. Alongside this, you’ll establish robust governance and lifecycle discipline, ensuring all workstreams follow clear processes and assurance checkpoints while maintaining pace and avoiding unnecessary friction.

Acting as the key link between Design, Programme Management, and Field teams, you’ll ensure outputs are fully aligned with mobilisation schedules and delivery priorities, removing any disconnect between design and execution. You’ll also own performance metrics—tracking throughput, quality, and utilisation—and use data-driven insight to drive continuous improvement.

Finally, you’ll oversee external design partners, ensuring they operate to the same standards and cadence, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, tooling, and ways of working—helping us transition to a more digitally enabled, scalable, system-led operation.

    What You’ll Bring

You’ll bring strong experience leading operations within engineering or design environments, with a proven ability to manage complexity across multiple programmes and shift teams from reactive to structured delivery models. You’ll be confident owning capacity and demand planning, with a sharp focus on performance, predictability, and continuous improvement.

We’ll be looking for someone who can lead through others—developing high-performing managers, setting clear expectations, and building a disciplined, accountable culture. You’ll be a natural collaborator, able to build strong relationships across technical, operational, and commercial teams, while confidently influencing at senior levels.

You’ll also bring a data-led mindset, using insight to drive decisions, improve performance, and challenge inefficiencies. Experience in telecoms, utilities, or infrastructure environments would be a bonus, as would exposure to governance frameworks or operating model transformation.

Above all, you’ll bring the ability to bring clarity where there is ambiguity, balance pace with control and quality, and help us build a Design function that operates as a true system—not a collection of individual efforts.
