  • Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

We’re looking for a Field Engineer (Radio) to join our Network Services team, supporting a range of contracts that require radio systems knowledge. You’ll respond to job tasks within agreed service levels, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and support radio equipment (multi-tone) across multiple client sites and regions.

The role covers the South East of England region - areas include Southampton to Norfolk, London, the Inner M25, Kent and the Isle of Wight, with occasional support required in other regions such as Lincolnshire and Peterborough. Core working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with participation in a 1-in-4 week on-call rota.

    What you’ll do:

    • Identify and resolve faults on radio equipment, including radio interface equipment, PMR systems, Multitone digital systems, analogue systems, and voice and data systems.
    • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across installed radio systems, with occasional installation tasks supported by installation guides, training and procedural documents.
    • Support national project teams with installation, commissioning and upgrades to new or existing equipment.
    • Work independently and as part of a team on cellular radio, Wi-Fi, PMR and network systems across buildings, street-level locations, third-party sites and remote sites.
    • Liaise with customers, equipment users, the wider team and the Service Centre to ensure jobs are managed and completed in a timely manner.
    • Complete quality checks, site documentation, risk assessments, administration and compliance activities accurately and on time.
    • Take part in a rotational on-call rota and remain flexible with travel, extra hours, overnight work and weekend work when required.

    Who you are:

You are an experienced Field Engineer with a strong background in radio systems, maintenance and customer-facing field work. You’ll be confident working independently, managing allocated jobs, liaising with customers and working safely across a range of site environments. You’ll also be comfortable travelling across your region and supporting other areas when needed.

    Key Requirements:

    • Previous working knowledge of radio systems, with experience across radio equipment maintenance and fault finding.
    • Experience with VHF/RF transmission systems, from LF through to microwave.
    • Experience or qualification in Multitone systems, with the ability to support configuration and firmware updates either remotely or directly onto equipment.
    • Knowledge of PMR systems, analogue systems, voice and data systems, and radio interface equipment.
    • Strong customer-facing skills, with the ability to work professionally with customers, equipment users and internal teams.
    • Willingness to travel, work away from home when required, and participate in on-call, extra hours, overnight and weekend working where needed.

    What we offer:

At Telent, we’re committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to thrive. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage diverse perspectives across our teams.
