    Where will you be working?

    We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.  We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

    This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

    What will you be doing?
     
    The Pre-Construction Design Surveyor plays a vital role in the early stages of infrastructure projects.

    Day to day you'll be responsible for conducting pre-construction site surveys and infrastructure assessments, identifying structural and environmental issues, and recommending appropriate remedial solutions. We'll need you to produce detailed technical reports, condition surveys, and feasibility studies to support the successful planning and delivery of infrastructure projects.

    You will develop design proposals and technical specifications for construction and refurbishment schemes, ensuring all designs meet relevant regulations, industry standards, and client requirements. Working closely with civil engineers, architects, and other stakeholders, you'll contribute to the design process and help deliver innovative, practical solutions.

    A key aspect of the role will involve supporting planning applications and regulatory submissions while providing advice on health and safety, sustainability, and environmental considerations. You'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and applicable infrastructure standards throughout the project lifecycle.

    We'll also need you to support tendering and procurement activities by providing accurate cost estimates, technical information, and design data. Liaising with contractors, consultants, and project teams during the pre-construction phase, you'll help ensure projects progress efficiently and effectively. 

    You'll attend project meetings, contributing to design development, risk mitigation, and the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.

    What you’ll bring 
    • Do you have a degree in Building Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management?
    • Do you hold a RICS accreditation or working towards chartership? This is desirable#
    • Have you got proven experience in surveying or pre-construction roles within infrastructure projects?
    • Do you have familiarity with infrastructure construction methods and technical design?
    • Are you someone who has strong analytical and problem-solving abilities?
    • Do you have excellent written and verbal communication?
    • Are you proficient in CAD and surveying software? ESRI field maps this is desirable.
    • Do you have knowledge of water infrastructure regulations, planning law, and sustainability standards?
    • Do you hold a valid UK driving licence?
