    This role is in our Plant & Fleet department, our Plant & Fleet supports teams across our business with their vehicle, plant and specialist equipment needs, offering hire solutions that are commercially effective, reliable, safe and compliant.

    What will you be doing? 

    The HGV Fleet Operations & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the vehicle operator licensing (VOL) platform, ensuring compliance , vehicle checks have been completed and all HGV maintenance activities are being carried out in line with the DVSA’s GTMR & company policy, ensuring all vehicles are safe and fit for purpose.

    • Provide line management, leadership and development of the HGV Maintenance administration team, allocate workload and manage team performance.
    • Conduct probation reviews, one-to-one meetings &, annual appraisals.
    • Review and maintain HGV maintenance operating procedures.
    • Manage relationships with approved HGV maintenance providers and fleet suppliers, monitoring performance against KPIs and SLA’S.
    • Ensure repairs are completed to agreed quality, safety and compliance standards, escalate supplier performance issues where appropriate.
    • Promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
    • Produce accurate and timely management information to support operational performance and compliance monitoring.
    • Develop and provide weekly HGV KPI Dashboard to compliance Manager on the following: HGV fleet availability, vehicles off road (VOR), overdue scheduled events, MOT pass rate, defects outstanding, breakdown statistics, speeding events, overloading, mobile phone use, seat belt use, driving infringements repeat offenders, gate & weight checks, key operational risks & trends.

    What you’ll bring

    • CPC Standard National Transport Manager
    • Full UK Driving Licence, (Category C/C&E (Desirable)
    • IOSH Managing Safely (Desirable)
    • ILM Level 3 or equivalent leadership qualification.
    • Experience knowledge of DVSA regulations.
    • Experience of Operator Licence compliance.
    • Experience of HGV fleet maintenance planning.
    • Experience of Telematics systems and driver performance monitoring.
    • Experience of managing HGV fleet operations and maintenance.
    • Experience working within an Operator Licence environment.
