What will you be doing?
The Head of People reporting to the divisional People Director will develop and lead the people strategy for business. This senior leader position will ensure the People strategy and delivery attracts the right level of resource at the right skill level and time frame, has a culture which enables people within to thrive, leads to their retention and gives opportunities for growth.
It will coach leadership teams on people matters and through delivery of effective strategies enable the growth, value optimisation of the division, along with organisational structures to support.
Working closely with the People Director, Managing Director and CoE’s to ensure that:
- The organisation is appropriately designed to deliver organisation objectives in the short and long-term and that structural change is effectively managed.
- The organisation has a committed, ‘fit for the future’ workforce needed to deliver its strategic ambition.
- Insight and thought leadership is provided on development and the execution of any capability, cultural and change activities.
- Advocating for and contributing to the success of the People function as a whole including CoE’s, as well as role modelling the M Group behaviours and values.
Requirements:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to develop and deliver divisional people strategies aligned with business goals and the Group People Strategy.
- Lead strategic workforce planning in collaboration with business leaders and Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to ensure the right talent is in place to meet future needs.
- Ensure divisional alignment with Group-wide people initiatives across Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, Reward, and Shared Services.
- Drive the annual people calendar, including performance, talent, and engagement cycles.
- Lead talent management and succession planning, enhancing leadership capability and building a strong internal talent pipeline.
- Promote and embed best practices in people management to drive continuous improvement and organisational effectiveness.
- Leverage HR data and insights to inform decision-making, identify risks and opportunities, and influence strategic direction.
- Support annual business planning and budgeting processes to ensure people initiatives are well-resourced and aligned with business priorities.
- Develop and implement policies and processes that support the Group’s people strategy and uphold compliance with legal and governance standards.
- Coach and develop leaders to proactively manage organisational challenges and build high-performing teams.
- Align performance management and reward strategies to foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
- Lead, coach, and develop the divisional People team, ensuring high levels of engagement, capability, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and internal governance standards.
- Create and maintain succession plans and talent pools in line with CoE guidance.
