    Where will you be working?

    We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.  We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

    This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

    What will you be doing? 

    As our Safety, Health, Environment & Wellbeing (SHEW) Manager you'll be a highly organised, efficient multitasking and flexible individual. You'll have proven team management experience who is keen to be part of a vibrant team. 

    You’ll be responsible for leading the SHEW performance and managing a team supporting our Southern Water Capital Strategic Delivery Partner (SDP) Contract. You'll be based across Southern Water Region.

    As our Safety, Health, Environment & Wellbeing (SHEW) Manager, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team. You'll work closely with senior management and operational teams, ensuring a strategic and proactive approach to managing SHEW performance while striving for continual improvement.

    You’ll support and build ongoing client relationships, facilitate internal and external meetings, prepare and present SHEW performance, reporting to parent company and clients requirements.

    As you’d expect with this role you will act as a role model providing advice, guidance and governance. Proactively lead and develop the SHEW team, whilst collaborating with Central SHEW, to support operations, lead incident investigations, identify solutions and maintain mandatory standards.

    This role is a full time area based role requiring regular attendance at client and operational sites.

    What you’ll bring

    • Experience of the utilities and/or civil construction sector.
    • Experience of implementing and maintaining CDM requirements, ideally as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor roles.
    • IOSH membership, ideally CMIOSH with relevant qualifications and experience managing and developing a team.
    • Willingness and confidence in engaging with clients and interacting with stakeholders at all levels whilst demonstrating high standards of safety behaviour, leading by example and promoting a positive safety culture.
    • Full UK driving licence – you’ll travel across operational sites and may include overnight stays.
