What will you be doing?
We are looking for someone who knows how things work on the ground. You will be based in Sussex and already understand what it takes to manage teams working on Virgin Media and Openreach contracts. You have done this before and know the pace, the standards, and the challenges.
This role is about keeping things running smoothly. You will check work, guide teams, and make sure everything is done safely and properly. You will be the link between the crews on site and the people who plan the work. You will help solve problems and make sure the job gets done right the first time.
You will be part of a team that supports each other. You will be trusted to make decisions and to speak up when something needs fixing. You will be given the tools and support to do your job well.
We want someone who takes pride in their work. Someone who knows the area and understands the kind of work we do. If you have worked on Virgin Media or Openreach contracts before, we would like to hear from you.
This is a full-time role. You will be out in the field most days. You will need to travel across Sussex, so being local is important.
If this sounds like you, please get in touch.
What you’ll bring?
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current and comprehensive NRSWA Supervisor Street Works qualification, encompassing Units 10 through 16, as a baseline requirement for overseeing works in the public highway. In addition, accreditation under the Smart Awards framework—specifically the Network Operative Passport Scheme (NOPS)—is essential, reflecting the technical and safety competencies expected in this role. Possession of Passive Infrastructure Access (PIA) certification is considered advantageous, particularly for candidates with experience in Openreach environments.
A full UK driving licence, held for a minimum of twelve months and with no more than six penalty points, is mandatory due to the mobile nature of the role and the geographic spread of operational sites.
Familiarity with Openreach infrastructure, including Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial (HFC) networks, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a robust understanding of telecommunications engineering, with particular emphasis on underground civil engineering and cable installation methodologies.
A strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk assessment procedures, and local authority permitting processes is essential.
