M Group Water is a leading provider of sustainable, innovative design and build solutions across the UK water sector. As we expand our AMP8 portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Area Technical Manager to lead and develop our new In-House Design Function in the South Division.
This strategic role involves providing technical assurance, managing multidisciplinary design teams, and ensuring compliance with governance and performance standards. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive design quality, buildability, and efficiency across projects.
Key responsibilities include leading technical delivery from concept to construction, supporting business performance, and contributing to divisional strategy. You'll also play a key role in developing policies, improving systems, and fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and engagement.

What you’ll bring
- Degree-qualified in an engineering-related discipline
- Proven experience in technical project delivery within a design and build environment
- Strong background in the water treatment industry
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary design teams
- Results-driven, with a focus on delivering to time, cost, and quality targets
- Excellent technical and project management capabilities
- Skilled in identifying and managing project risks and scope changes
- Previous experience in a senior management or leadership role
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, from site teams to senior leadership
- Proactive, enthusiastic, and solutions-oriented, with a passion for overcoming operational challenges
