Aviation- Our Aviation team works across a wide range of specialist civil, mechanical and electrical engineering works including major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields.

What will you be doing?
Project Planning & Scoping
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, safety, and airfield stakeholders to ensure requirements are fully captured.
Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
- Act as the central point of contact between contractors, airport authorities, regulators, and internal teams.
- Lead progress meetings, issue updates, and maintain clear communication channels across all parties.
- Manage approvals and ensure alignment with airport operational constraints (e.g., closures, NOTAMs, night works).
Safety, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure all works comply with aviation standards (ICAO, EASA/CAA, CAP 168, airfield lighting regulations).
- Conduct and review risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work processes.
- Drive safety culture and enforce airside rules, including vehicle access, FOD control, and operational readiness.
Construction & Technical Oversight
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning activities (e.g., AGL systems, navigational aids, civil works).
- Ensure technical quality meets design specifications and airport requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and witness testing such as photometric testing or PIT (Primary/Secondary) checks.
Budget & Cost Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reporting.
- Approve invoices, track variations, and mitigate cost overruns.
- Support procurement processes and contractor negotiations.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify and proactively manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Prepare mitigation plans to protect project timelines and operational performance.
- Maintain risk registers and escalate issues as needed.
Operational Interface & Airfield Coordination
- Plan works around airfield operations, including runway/taxiway closures, line-up restrictions, or night-time possession windows.
- Coordinate with ATC, ops control, and airport duty teams to minimise operational impact.
- Ensure timely preparation of NOTAMs, method statements, and operational briefings.
Documentation & Reporting
- Produce regular progress reports, dashboards, and milestone updates.
- Ensure technical documentation, as-builts, O&M manuals, and approval packages are delivered.
- Maintain accurate project records for audits and compliance.
Commissioning & Handover
- Lead commissioning plans, system testing, and acceptance procedures.
- Ensure all snagging, defect resolution, and operational readiness activities are complete.
- Oversee smooth handover to maintenance teams or end users.
Continuous Improvement & Lessons Learned
- Facilitate post‑project evaluations.
- Capture and share lessons learned for future aviation projects.
- Support development of improved processes, pit cards, and quality standards.
What you’ll bring
Aviation & Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of airport operations, airfield infrastructure, and aviation regulations (e.g., ICAO, EASA/CAA, CAP 168).
- Knowledge of AGL systems, NAVAIDs, airfield electrical networks, and commissioning processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering designs.
Project Management Expertise
- Skilled in planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Strong command of project controls: risk, scope, cost, and change management.
- Proficient with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Sitetracker).
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Ability to engage effectively with airport authorities, contractors, operations teams, and regulators.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Comfortable leading meetings, progress reviews, and technical discussions.
Safety & Compliance Orientation
- Deep understanding of airfield safety requirements, permit-to-work systems, and RAMS documentation.
- Ability to ensure compliance with safety standards and drive a strong safety culture.
- Competent in hazard identification and risk assessment.
Operational Awareness
- Skilled at planning works around airport operations, restrictions, and closure windows.
- Ability to coordinate with ATC, operations control, and duty teams.
- Understands NOTAM processes, operational briefings, and airside rules.
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions in operationally sensitive environments.
- Strong analytical skills to resolve issues, mitigate risks, and maintain project momentum.
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams (engineering, H&S, contractors, suppliers).
- Able to motivate teams, manage performance, and maintain accountability.
- Strong organisational and delegation skills.
Financial & Commercial Awareness
- Understanding of budgets, forecasting, cost control, and commercial variations.
- Ability to manage contractors, review claims, and support procurement.
Documentation & Reporting
- Skilled in producing clear reports, dashboards, and technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail for record keeping, quality assurance, and compliance submissions.
Adaptability & Resilience
- Able to work under pressure in fast‑paced, safety‑critical environments.
