Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.
Where will you be working?
As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 11,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
Want to come and be a part of it?
The Head of Quality is responsible for setting and maintaining high standards for software quality across M Group. This role exists to give senior leaders a clear, honest view of quality risk and to make sure our technology is safe, reliable, and ready for use before it goes live. You will lead how quality is governed, assured, and improved across the organisation, while delivery teams and strategic partners carry out the day‑to‑day engineering work.
This role is not about building a parallel delivery function. It is a high‑authority, low‑touch, leadership role focused on governance, assurance, standards, insights and continuous improvement, while delivery execution is primarily performed by the internal team and strategic SI partners.
What will you be doing?
You will own the overall quality position for M Group, giving leaders a single, trusted view of where risks sit and how well technology is performing. You’ll define what “good” looks like for quality, make sure those expectations are clearly understood across internal teams and System Integrator partners, and ensure they are applied consistently from early design through to live service.
You’ll work closely with engineering leadership to embed quality early in the lifecycle, rather than relying on late checks. This includes promoting automation wherever possible, encouraging early testing, and making sure realistic environments and data are used so risks are understood before release. When issues arise, you’ll focus on root causes and lasting improvements, not short‑term fixes.
What you’ll bring:
Experience
- Senior leadership experience in quality or quality engineering within complex organisations.
- Strong experience governing and assuring third‑party or System Integrator delivery.
- Deep understanding of modern quality practices, including automation, early testing and pipeline‑based assurance.
- Broad experience across functional and non‑functional testing.
- Comfortable using data and evidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience working with Salesforce and complex integrations.
- Exposure to cloud, SaaS, legacy and on‑premise platforms.
- Proven experience improving or modernising quality functions.
- Familiarity with Agile, DevOps and scaled delivery models.
