Where will you be working?
M Group Rail & Aviation - We deliver a variety of enhancement and infrastructure projects across all routes, both overground and underground.
With over 40 years’ experience, we’re a trusted partner with the expertise to get the work done.
This role will be within our Finance Team. Based in one of our offices (Stevenage, Heathrow or Beaconsfield) (2 days per week).

What will you be doing?
A Financial Analyst is sought to support the Rail and Aviation Division at MGroup Ltd. An important role is offered within a team where clear thinking, accuracy and care are valued. A strong focus on data, insight and steady delivery is expected. A supportive environment is provided, where development and learning are encouraged.
This role will be centred on financial analysis, reporting and project support. A wide range of data will be handled. Clear and simple outputs will be expected. Close work with stakeholders across the business will be part of everyday activity.
Key Responsibilities
Financial models will be built, maintained and improved to support decisions. Cost analysis will be carried out across cost of sales and overheads. Detailed cost reviews will be completed when needed. Support will be provided for month end close and budgeting cycles through accurate analysis and reporting. Ad hoc reports will be delivered and stakeholder queries will be addressed in a timely way. Data and supporting analysis will be prepared for RDEC submissions.
Financial management of projects will be supported from initial setup through to closure. Costs will be allocated correctly and tracked across all projects. Actions and savings initiatives will be monitored and recorded. General project administration support will be provided to keep activity on track.
A key finance contact will be maintained for payroll related queries. Overtime will be reviewed and any issues will be resolved. Timecard data will be checked and kept accurate to ensure correct labour costing.
Support will be given for the development and upkeep of Power BI reporting. Data accuracy and integrity will be maintained across systems. Insights will be drawn from data and shared to support business performance.
What you’ll bring
A recognised accounting qualification will be held, or strong experience will be in place. This may include ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent path. Part qualification or qualified by experience will also be valued.
Clear communication skills will be shown. Information will be shared in a simple and calm way. Good working relationships will be formed with colleagues and stakeholders. Confidence when dealing with different teams will be important.
A high level of skill in Excel will be demonstrated. Large data sets will be handled with care. Spreadsheets will be created and maintained to a strong standard.
A strong attention to detail will be required. Accuracy will be checked and rechecked. Errors will be reduced through a careful and consistent approach.
Experience within a contracting, construction or project-based setting will be welcomed. An understanding of project costs and environments will be seen as an advantage.
