    Where you'll be working?
     

    The Resource Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and optimising resource allocation across the Change Portfolio to ensure successful delivery of M Groups forward schedule of change.

    This is a critical role with the Strategic Portfolio Management Office involving detailed capacity planning and aligning workforce capabilities with organisational priorities within a complex portfolio of change.

    This position requires a strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities. You must be proactive and outcome focussed, be able to collaborate and influence without authority and be comfortable working in a complex, regulated environment.

    What you'll be doing?

    • Build and maintain forward‑looking capacity and resource plans.
    •  Forecast demand, capability needs, and skills across the change portfolio.
    • Monitor and optimise resource utilisation, identifying gaps and risks.
    • Support governance with clear reporting on capacity, utilisation, and resourcing issues.
    • Advise senior stakeholders on resourcing strategy, trade‑offs, and workforce planning.
    • Assess new demand against capacity and recommend prioritisation.
    • Produce accurate data, reporting, and insights to guide decisions.
    • Improve resourcing frameworks, tools, and processes.
    • Collaborate across delivery, HR, finance, business leaders, and suppliers to align demand, capacity, and capability.
 
 Essential Skills & Experience?
  
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in creating effective capacity plans.
  • Strong experience in resource and capacity management within a change or transformation environment.
  • Understanding of portfolio management frameworks (e.g., PPM, MSP, PRINCE2).
  • Ability to analyse complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Experience working within regulated industries (ideally utilities, energy, water, or infrastructure).
  • Experience with portfolio/resource management tools (e.g., Clarity, Planview, MS Project Online).
  • Knowledge of workforce planning and financial management principles.

    Desirable
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g., IT, Business, Management, Engineering) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as APM, PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, AgilePM, SAFe.
  • Experience with Agile delivery frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Scrum at scale).
  • Experience with portfolio and PMO tooling (e.g., Clarity, Planview, ServiceNow, Jira Align)
