This role is in our Plant & Fleet department, our Plant & Fleet supports teams across our business with their vehicle, plant and specialist equipment needs, offering hire solutions that are commercially effective, reliable, safe and compliant.

What will you be doing?
As Transport & Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day Transport Operation of drivers in the South, route planning plant and equipment logistics, and transport administration activities.
Working closely with the National Rental Operations Manager, you will drive high standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance, whilst supporting the development and wellbeing of the driver team and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and support a team of drivers, providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, and performance management.
- Plan, schedule, and optimise driver routes and workloads to ensure operational efficiency and customer service targets are achieved.
- Manage third-party haulage providers, ensuring compliance with Service levels agreements, Risk Assessments and Method Statements and company Health & Safety procedures and standards.
- Monitor transport activities and equipment movements, proactively resolving delivery issues, failed collections, and service disruptions.
- Carry out driver SHEQ audits, gate checks, and vehicle compliance inspections to ensure adherence to company and legislative requirements.
- Maintain compliance of load restraint equipment, including straps, chains, and wheel chocks, ensuring inspection records remain up to date.
- Oversee driver compliance activities, including licence checks, eyesight assessments, training records, and company policy requirements to maintain a competent and engaged workforce.
- Manage reported vehicle and equipment defects, coordinating repairs with HGV Maintenance teams
- Review and process driver timesheets, ensuring compliance with Driver Hours Regulations, the Working Time Directive, and payroll requirements.
- Lead driver investigations, incident reviews, disciplinary processes, and return-to-work discussions in line with company policies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transport efficiency, compliance, and service delivery.
What You'll Bring
- Experience within the Transport, Logistics industry in a supervisory, coordinator or team leadership role.
- Transport Managers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Strong understanding of transport planning, driver management, and logistics operations.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop, motivate, and manage teams effectively
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and transport, fleet, or hire management systems.
- A proactive and customer-focused approach, with a commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
