Aviation- Our Aviation team works across a wide range of specialist civil, mechanical and electrical engineering works including major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields.

What will you be doing?
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to required standards.
- Coordinate multiple contractors, suppliers, and engineering teams working on airside or landside projects.
- Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders, including airport authorities, ATC, operations, and project managers.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with airport safety rules, CAA/EASA regulations, and site permits.
- Lead daily briefings, toolbox talks, and safety audits.
- Manage access control, permits-to-work, RAMS reviews, and airside vehicle/plant compliance.
- Respond to and investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses.
Work Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and manage work schedules around operational constraints (e.g., runway closures, NOTAM windows, night shifts).
- Ensure resources, plant, and materials are available when required.
- Coordinate with airport ops on possession times and restricted areas.
Quality Management
- Ensure installation, maintenance, and construction activities meet technical specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections, commissioning checks, and verify completion documentation.
- Maintain records, drawings, redlines, and as‑built information.
Contractor & Workforce Management
- Supervise site teams, subcontractors, and technical specialists.
- Verify competencies, training, and airside qualifications.
- Manage performance, productivity, and adherence to site procedures.
Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with airlines, airport operations, engineering departments, and emergency services as needed.
- Provide clear reporting on progress, risks, safety, and compliance.
- Represent the site in coordination meetings and runway possession briefings.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify operational, safety, and technical risks early.
- Implement mitigation plans and escalate issues when required.
- Monitor weather, operational impacts, and airport notices affecting work.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily site logs, risk assessments, permits, and change requests.
- Produce progress reports, H&S reports, and close‑out packs.
- Ensure accurate completion of work packs, ITPs, and commissioning records.
Resource & Asset Control
- Manage site equipment, plant, and materials.
- Ensure correct storage, calibration, and airport-approved handling processes (especially for AGL equipment).
Continuous Improvement
- Identify operational efficiencies and opportunities to improve safety, quality, and delivery.
- Support audits, learning reviews, and process improvements.
What you’ll bring
Essential Qualifications
- Relevant engineering or construction-related degree (e.g., Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Aviation Engineering).
- Site Management or Construction Certifications, such as:
- SMSTS / SSSTS
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
- CSCS card or equivalent competency card.
- Full UK Driving Licence (often required for airside vehicle operation).
- RAMS and Permit-to-Work training (airport or company specific).
- First Aid Training (desirable on many aviation sites).
Optional but advantageous:
- ICAO / EASA / CAA familiarity certifications
- AGL-specific training (if working with airfield ground lighting)
- Prince2 / project management qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of airport operations, airside rules, and safety protocols.
- Ability to oversee airside construction, maintenance, and engineering works.
- Knowledge of CAA/EASA, ICAO, and local airport regulations.
- Competency in interpreting technical drawings, AGL layouts, construction schematics, and work packs.
- Skilled in site coordination, contractor supervision, and work sequencing in controlled environments.
- Experience working within NOTAM windows, runway closures, and operational constraints.
- Good understanding of quality assurance, ITPs, and commissioning processes.
- Proficiency with site reporting tools, digital forms, and project management software.
Leadership & Management Skills
- Strong team leadership and ability to manage multidisciplinary contractors and engineers.
- Effective decision-making under operational pressure.
- Excellent stakeholder communication with airport ops, ATC, engineers, and project teams.
- Ability to manage shift teams, night works, and rotating schedules.
- Conflict resolution and strong people-management capability.
Safety & Compliance Skills
- Deep understanding of H&S legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Ability to lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
- Strong enforcement of airside safety rules, access control, and vehicle/plant compliance.
- Experience managing high‑risk environments (runways, taxiways, live aprons).
Planning & Organisational Skills
- Skilled in producing site plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Ability to manage tight possession windows and coordinate work with airport operations.
- Capable of maintaining detailed site logs, progress reports, and handover packs.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation control.
