What will you be doing?
Working across the Thames Water Capital Delivery Framework. You'll provide advanced technical and leadership support across contracts, bridging the gap between SHE Advisors and the SHE Manager. The role focuses on complex risk management, assurance activity, mentoring Advisors, and deputising for the SHE Manager where required. All while remaining operationally focused and visible on site. You'll enhance delivery capability by retaining high-level technical expertise within the advisory layer, without full people or contract management accountability.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring legal compliance, reducing operational risk, promoting safe behaviours, and enabling projects to be delivered safely and sustainably. Key responsibilities include providing senior-level SHE advice across complex, high-risk, or multiple utility and water contracts. You'll lead on complex SHE risk topics such as confined spaces, temporary works interfaces, lifting operations, excavations, and work near or over water. You'll also act as an escalation point for SHE Advisors on technical, behavioural, or compliance matters.
Further duties include leading and coordinating contract-level assurance activities. Including audits, themed inspections, and deep-dive reviews—while coaching and mentoring SHE Advisors to build capability and consistency. You’ll be responsible for leading investigations into high-potential incidents and serious near misses, ensuring robust root cause analysis and organisational learning. The role also involves representing the SHE function at contract and client meetings where required. Supporting the implementation of divisional SHE initiatives, campaigns, and improvement plans.
