Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.

    Where will you be working?

We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.  We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

Want to be a part of it?

    What will you be doing?

As our Design Technician you'll join our team and work on the Southern Water Contract in Brighton. In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering projects efficiently, meeting timelines, budgets, and specifications while adhering to client needs and regulatory standards.

As a Design Technician, you will contribute to the development of water and wastewater network projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

    • Create 2D and 3D models and detailed drawings for civil engineering projects using tools like Civil3D and ArcGIS Pro.

    • Prepare comprehensive drawing packs for submission to clients, supply chains, and operational teams.
    • Ensure that all design outputs are fully coordinated across disciplines and free from clashes.
    • Maintain high standards in documentation,  and drawing package organisation.
    • Contribute to the improvement of CAD standards and supporting design tasks.
    • Collaborate with Design Engineers and the Southern Water Enabling Team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
    • Develop and maintaining project documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
    • Escalate any issues that may impact timelines, costs, or quality before they become critical.
    • Promote excellence in health and safety (H&S) by designing safe solutions in compliance with CDM regulations and accepted codes of practice.
     What you'll bring
    • At least 2 years’ experience in the water industry.
    • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools, including the MS Office suite and relevant design tools.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve engineering challenges effectively.
    • Excellent project and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage designs, and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permit requirements related to water and wastewater facilities.
    • A keen eye for detail and accuracy in design calculations, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
    • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development, including the pursuit of membership in professional organisations such as ICE or IMechE. Professional registration will be supported.
